This painting is dedicated to the memory of Nikki, the wonderful and much-loved dog of our dear friends, Bill Banzhaf and Adela Backiel. In addition to enjoying the beautiful sunsets and walking the Indian Lake shoreline, Nikki loved swimming and riding in the motor boat with wind blowing through her fur. Indian Lake is in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, between Lake Michigan and Lake Superior. Adela and Bill live in the cabin built by his father in 1928. The painting hangs over the fireplace in the cabin. Nikki, of course, lives on in their hearts, and will forever. The reference for the painting is a photograph by Bill Banzhaf. Doing the painting was a wonderful and emotional experience. This painting is dedicated to the memory of Nikki, the wonderful and much-loved dog of our dear friends, Bill Banzhaf and Adela Backiel.
