Danielle M. Le Bris

Danielle M. Le Bris was born and raised in Versailles, France. She discovered art at a very young age as she played in Louis XIV's gardens and wandered through the Palace's many rooms.

While living in Europe she studied art in both France and England.
After moving to the United States she settled in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where she studied at the University of the Arts and graduated from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts.

She paints from visual memories, recalling the emotional impact of a particular moment in time.

A variety of mediums are used to express those emotions: acrylic, watercolor, encaustic, oil and oil pastels on paper, archival panels and wood blocks.

For oil and acrylic paintings: paint is applied with a palette knife, rags and fingers; then the surface is sanded, scraped and reworked.

For the encaustic paintings: many layers of bee's wax, oil pigments and mixed media are applied. A torch is used to fuse each layer together.

She is the recipient of many awards for her drawings and paintings.

Her work resides in private collections throughout Europe, Canada and the United States.
