It’s not what you look at that matters, it’s what you see.

Indulge your imagination in every possible flight.”       —Jane Austen

I feel fortunate to live in the beautiful Driftless area of southeast Minnesota.  Our log house on a hill has a 360-degree view of rolling farmlands and forests.  It is a very inspiring place to wake up every day.

On our forty acres, we grow hay for our four mini horses.  We also have four dogs, six laying hens, a one-eyed cat...and many deer, groundhogs, chipmunks, squirrels, raccoons, and, based on some tracks I found, possibly a wolf.

I've been painting and drawing since early childhood and sold my first painting at age ten.  My preferred subjects are, and always have been, animals, especially beloved companion animals.  Before moving to Minnesota my husband and I lived in Florida.  I worked with a dog rescue group there and with my pet portraiture, I raised tens of thousands of much-needed dollars for them.

In addition to pets and wild animals, I have enjoyed painting many commissioned portraits of children, houses, and meaningful landscapes.

Thank you for viewing my gallery of works.  Please contact me if you'd like to commission a portrait of a pet or a person or a place that is special to you.

You can view some of my larger paintings on my other website -- JandiSmall.com -- and selected paintings are available at the beautiful Gallery360 in Minneapolis.  Their website is Gallery360mpls.com
