Many of my earliest memories are about color—a pink scarf that stood out from the pile when I was in kindergarten, a pair of fuschia shoes I saw a year later, a purple and yellow egg carton art project in first grade…the memories I have of these moments are so vivid to me although they all happened decades ago.
I majored in Studio Art with an emphasis on abstract painting and I eventually focused my love of light, color and pattern on a career in Interior Design. At that point in my life, painting took a back seat to my design projects. Color kept me company throughout all of my projects and while I can appreciate a space that’s predominantly white, color was never too far away.
I took some time off to raise my family and I’m now getting back into the swing of painting. I’ve been lucky enough to take several courses taught by Dreama Tolle Perry, Nancy Medina, Melanie Morris and Kim Myers and their encouragement and guidance put me on a path to rediscovering the joy of painting.
I believe there is no right or wrong way to paint. There are various techniques and genres but the freedom to paint knowing you can’t get it wrong is a real gift to oneself.
I hope you will enjoy the colorful gifts I’m sharing with you!
