Start the year off right by making painting a priority! Join me for this 3-session online workshop, where I'll guide you through my process for creating expressive, pet portraits. Using the alla prima method of painting, you'll learn how to fearlessly finish a painting in one sitting.
This workshop will cover techniques, including developing an underpainting to establish values, exercises for achieving looser brushwork and tips for effective color mixing and application. We'll also discuss the importance of "seeing" vs "doing," helping you approach your work with greater intention.Each week will include a demonstration, discussions about materials and techniques, and assignment critiques. Time will be reserved at the end of each session for Q&A. Homework will be assigned to help you practice what we cover in class. Individual feedback on assignments will be shared on the class message board. My goal for you is to complete 2 to 3 paintings by the end of the workshop. You'll also leave with practical advice to inspire your ongoing practice and tips for incorporating painting into your daily routine.
Along with learning to paint more expressively, you'll explore the benefits of working smaller, a practice that can fast-track your skills and boost your confidence. So, grab a smaller panel, a larger brush, and join me in January for a fun and rewarding painting experience!
