Terri’s journey began in Ohio, where she was born and nurtured her love for animals and nature.  Her adventurous spirit led her to live in eight different states, each experience shaping her perspective and deepening her appreciation for diverse landscapes and wildlife.  It was in Ohio where she met her husband, Andy and together they raised their family in Wisconsin where they moved after Andy completed his Pediatric residency.

Thirteen years ago, seeking new adventures and a change of scenery, Terri and Andy made the decision to relocate to North Carolina.  They settled initially, in the town of Leland, North Carolina.  After ten years

of life near the ocean, they made the decision to move to the mountains and chose a mountain home in Mills River, NC.  This new chapter has allowed Terri to further explore her passion for the outdoors, as she hikes the stunning landscapes and wildlife that North Carolina has to offer.  Surrounded by the breathtaking beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains and inspired by a vibrant art community, Terri decided to pursue her art full time.

Terri attended the University of Wisconsin-Parkside where she pursued a Fine Arts Degree.  She was sidelined after a horseback riding accident.  Although she did not finish her degree, she still received the foundational  experience which honed her skills and sparked her creativity, allowing her to explore various mediums and techniques.  Her education provided her with a strong understanding of art principles which she continues to build upon.

Even now, Terri remains committed to her growth as an artist.  she actively participates in workshops and classes, believing wholeheartedly in the idea that “You always have more to learn.”  This mindset reflects her dedication to her craft and her desire to continually evolve as an artist.  By seeking out new experiences and knowledge, Terri enriches her artistic practice, incorporating fresh ideas and techniques into her work.

Her ongoing education not only enhances her artistic abilities but also fuels her passion for creativity.  Whether she’s experimenting with new styles or learning about contemporary art trends, Terri embraces every opportunity to expand her horizons.

Today Terri can often be found hiking through the mountains, immersing herself in the beauty of nature.  With camera in hand, she captures stunning landscapes and wildlife that inhabit the Blue Ridge Mountains.  These photographs serve as inspiration for her art, allowing her to translate the essence of the natural world onto paper or canvas.

Her artwork reflects the intricate details and personalities of the animals she encounters, showcasing her deep appreciation for their beauty and grace.  Through her creative expression, Terri not only shares her love for animals and nature but also raises awareness about the importance of finding homes for animals in shelters and the protection of wildlife.  Each piece she creates is a testament to her lifelong passion.

Terri’s current focus is largely wildlife and pet portraiture.  She uses soft pastels, the purest of pigments with a vibrancy that cant be matched.  Terri “says this medium is so hands on that I feel like I am sculpting animal forms.”  While Terri does paint a lot of animals and wildlife, she also produces still life’s, florals, landscapes and photography.
