My wood round paintings were inspired by pileated woodpecker holes on Woodby Island. We visited an outdoor gallery called the Price Sculpture Forest “where art enhances nature and nature enhances art.” I found that to be true when I was mesmerized by the holes left behind in trees by feathered visitors. I grew up in Washington and never saw a pileated woodpecker, the population was in decline then. Now I am fortunate to see them often on my trips back to the state.
