Media: Oil Paper mounted on wood board
Size: 10x8 in
I snapped a shot of this kayak on Lake Acworth while walking my dog. It is a favorite plein air location of mine currently. I live around the foot of the Appalachian mountains in north Georgia. Lake Acworth is a beautiful a Lake in our community that attaches to a much larger like known as lake Altoona. I will frequently paint things around here. This one was actually done in my studio. I’m starting to separate my work as a studio and plein air. I was studying the values and the tree line behind the kayaker. I also was studying the water, as there was a fair amount of debris across the top of the super calm water. I used some new fresh work to capture the texture of the debris on the still morning. I learned a lot from this painting. The kayakers actually wearing a helmet and there is a small trolling motor off the back of his kayak. I thought he was wearing a cute little hat at first. Anyway, if this is purchased by anyone, it will be mounted to a word backing that is about a quarter of an inch thick that I have found to be very good for framing. When I just said he’s often use Canson paper, which is a heavy duty service. Perfect for oil, extremely durable. I snapped a shot of this kayak on Lake Acworth while walking my dog.
