I am working on improving my intuitive portraits. I find this type of painting so full of expression and so much fun. It takes a while to just put marks on the canvas and push and pull paint around while trying to just let the image appear. I start out with a muse and a little bit of an idea regarding the color scheme but I really try to limit myself from "thinking too much". I recently took an online course from Caren Ginsberg and I feel I learned so much. She is a very giving teacher and she stresses the need to develop your own style of portraiture that is exciting to the eye and more importantly, one that you love. I feel this requires leaving fear of failure behind and just painting. I am working on improving my intuitive portraits. I find this type of painting so full of expression and so much fun.
