The village of Havre de Grace on the upper Chesapeake has many old Victorian homes. This one is now a B&B. I was in a plein air event in Harford County and had just finished a small nocturne, and was headed home. But I saw this lovely hotel and the lights on it and the story of someone watching TV late at night, compelled me to stop and paint it. The only board I had available was a 12x16, which is large for a nocturne. I was painting well into the wee hours, with my dog, Bear keeping me company.
