This is a painting of Sunset Beach in Cape May, New Jersey. If you go to this beach then you will see the SS Atlantus which is what you see out in the water in this painting.
The SS Atlantus is a WWI concrete ship. I won't go into a lot of detail here but it is a very fascinating story. The ship has presently deteriorated to the point where it is in three pieces. The stern of the ship is what you see here that's visible. The middle part of the ship is completely submerged, and the bow can be seen at low tide.
