Media: Mixed watercolor, pen and ink, gel pen, and partial photo on 140# Canson watercolor paper

Mission San Miguel watercolor &mixed media: this is one of my favorite California missions. San Miguel has been well-preserved, and it is a state historic site. I learned this technique of painting around a partial photo from fellow artist Suzy Pal Powell. Look closely and you will notice the wall is a part of a photo, then the rest is sketched in ink and watercolor with a little gouache added to blend in the cactus on the left. I circled on the second image the place where I glued the piece of photo to the watercolor paper. I also added some gel pen highlights on the cactus.
