When I paint, I often work from reference photos, and for some reason, I have an especially rich collection from this one particular event, my cousin’s son’s birthday party. There were so many children there, each one full of energy, caught in their own little world of joy and curiosity. Now, as I look back on those gatherings, I feel a deep sense of nostalgia. These moments, once so ordinary, have become precious. What draws me in as an artist are the fleeting expressive gestures of each child. They’re all doing something different, but together, their movement and spontaneity create a kind of chaotic harmony. That’s the beauty of being a child, the freedom to exist in motion. In my paintings, I try to honor that sense of wonder and vitality, preserving those small but profound moments that speak to the universal experience of childhood.
