Media: Oil on cradled panel
Size: 10x10 in
Good oil paint is too expensive to waste. I've been using Gamblin oils for a while now and love their consistency and vibrant colors. I especially love all the tech info Gamblin shares on their website. Anytime I have leftover paint mixed up on my palette I try to use it for a small piece. This 10" x 10" panel was inspired by memories of morning walks along Galveston's East Beach. I started this by quickly laying in blocks of color with my favorite Oakblade palette knives, then came back with a flat bristle brush to tighten up some areas and layer more colors and textures. For some parts I scratched back through the paint with the handle end of the brush. I use the phrase "tighten up" loosely as this painting is full of expressive gestures and thick slabs of paint. “East Beach at Dawn” is a 10" x 10" oil painting on a 1" deep cradled panel. It’s wired and ready to hang. Good oil paint is too expensive to waste. I've been using Gamblin oils for a while now and love their consistency and vibrant colors.
