This painting is one of a series I'm painting to inspire quite, pensive moments which allow a glimpse into the subject's thoughts. I think every painting should tell a little story, if only a quick snapshot into the subject's thinking. Paintings should cause us pause, or else why would the artist choose to paint it? This particular painting won an award in the figurative catagory of the Austin Pastel Society annual juried show in 2016.
