I painted this entirely from my memory; I saw this tree, just barely turning colors, an early morning last October in Zion. I thought I took a photo of it, but I couldn't find it. It takes some courage to paint something from memory, but it's also liberating. I'll paint another before I forget the feeling, with a different underpainting.
