Vacationing in mid-coast Maine, I would often join a local friend, Jan Kilburn, who taught plein air workshops around Damraiscotta. On this occasion, we went down to Pemiquid Lighthouse in the early morning amid a heavy fog. I schlepped down the rocks and set up below looking up at the bell house with the light fading in the fog. It was hard working so large outdoors, but the day was calm. The bell house has since come into disrepair and is in the process of being rebuilt.
