Thomas Hill's painting, "Early Morning, Yosemite Valley" painted in 1884 hangs in the Chrysler Museum of Norfolk, Va. My plein air group met at the museum to paint and I chose this painting to copy. This painting shows such a good arrangement of values as the distant mountains fade into the sky. The original painting has such luminosity that I wanted to try it.
