These trees live on the opposite shore of the Willamette River at the north end of Willamette Park in Corvallis, OR. Trees are one of my favorite subjects. I refer you to Hermann Hesse's reverential essay on trees as role models. I always do a small thumbnail sketch in pencil before I paint a subject. If that sketch doesn't just beg to be painted, I do another. Color palette I used can be seen in the left corner. That symbol is a color wheel with Yellow at the 12 o'clock position. So using a clock as your guide you'll see that this is a cross complementary color scheme, using Blue/Orange, and RedViolet/YellowGreen. All other colors in the painting were mixed from these four. Enjoy!
