My favourite places along the coast to pull over are where the flowers and grasses grow undisturbed above the ocean. I can feel the breeze, hear the water and watch the birds. This oil and cold wax piece is from some of those trips—a bit of summer in a painting. I experimented a bit in this piece so there is a little iridescence in the flowers from a transfer sheet that I made with PearlEx powder. The birds were applied with a transfer sheet made with pan pastels. I love the colors and the shapes and the little surprises and the feeling of being at the coast on a summer day present in this piece.
