Media: Oil and cold wax on 1.5" deep cradled wood, sides painted deep blue (I rubbed the paint on lightly so that the wood grain shows)

I walked all around my neighbourhood around sunset looking for backlit foxgloves and found the perfect place. This piece is created from multiple photos and the memory of how the late afternoon and evening sunlight lit the area. Oil and cold wax are mixed together in this process. The cold wax takes the shine from the oil paint and creates a beautiful satin finish. It also adds body to the paint which adds a subtle depth to the piece.
