As far as reference material goes, ive done a few things. I asked the midjourney bot to produce a photograph-like wildlife photo of black masked lovebirds. The bot was great at producing the correct bird shape, but the colors were wonky and the toes in some cases too numerous. AI does not deliver a perfect result, that’s for sure! So I used the overall shapes, but fixed the color patterns to hew closer to the right hues, based on images from the internet. So these sweet birdies are an amalgam, glued together with my paint brush.
