“We are tired of war. We are tired of running. We are tired of begging for bulgur wheat. We are tired of our children being raped. We are now taking this stand, to secure the future of our children. Because we believe, as custodians of society, tomorrow our children will ask us, "Mama, what was your role during the crisis?" said Leymah Gbowee to President Taylor of Liberia as she represented over 2,000 women in peaceful protests. These women wore white shirts of peace and this movement “Women of Liberia Mass Action for Peace continued its peaceful protests 4 more months while living in horrible conditions. In August of 2003, the end of 14 years of war was achieved in great part by these women refusing to be silenced. With women like Leymah Gbowee, I have renewed hope for the world. She continues to do the work repairing the human suffering that war leaves in order to heal her Liberia. She inspires and works with other nations in peace building programs. She provides leadership and experience with many organizations worldwide. I recommend watching “Praying the Devil Back to Hell” https://www.forkfilms.com/pray-the-devil-back-to-hell/ “We are tired of war. We are tired of running. We are tired of begging for bulgur wheat.
