Sigrid Undset, born in Denmark moved to Norway, won the Nobel Prize in Literature 1928 for her powerful descriptions of Northern life during the Middle Ages. Also wrote about women struggling for emancipation. She openly opposed Hitler and eventually fled Europe for safety in the United States. I applaud this woman who stood up openly for her beliefs.
