In February of 2020 we escaped to Key West - a trip we planned a year prior. A few weeks after we got home, things went pandemicrazy and we were ever so thankful our trip happened when it did! A month later and the trip would have been cancelled. In Key West there are chickens everywhere - the island is free-range and it's completely charming. Our hotel had 2 cats that lived on the grounds - not the 6-toed version that live at the Hemingway House, just the regular kind. It is my notion that the hotel keeps the kitties afoot to keep the roosters far enough away so they don't wake the guests too early in the morning. This particular siamese cat here in the painting loved spend his afternoons lounging on our the patio furniture just outside our door. The eyes - they really were this blue!!!! The painting went down quick....and I loved the look of it at once. I resisted the temptation to start blending and adding layers. I thought it would detract rather than add. Not easy for me to put the brush down so quickly, not easy for me not to add a few touch-ups the next day! Varnished and ready to be framed....free shipping in the US.
