From a hilltop near the Flattop park in West Richland, Washington, I'm able to see afar to the north just beyond many agricultural fields to where the White Bluffs line the Columbia River. The skies hold dust particles from recent winds, creating a layer of lavendar atmosphere at the horizon line. This shrub steppe landscape is very arid and is especially pretty in the late summer when the sagebrush are abloom. Sagebrush bouquets with their twisted inner structures, are some of my favorite flora to paint.
