There's something about leaving my studio to paint outside that really helps me escape my 'to do' list! I joined a local group of plein air painters this past summer. They paint a different location each week through the best part of the year. This location placed us at Shiloh Museum which is full of historical buildings from my grandparents time. I was attracted to this side of the house with it's mysterious dark entryway to the cellar. There were lots of bushed between me and this building that I had planned to include. But as kept working, I decided I wanted to keep it simple and preserve the geometric composition.
