This is the second of five paintings I did at the Hobbs State Park Plein Air. It was the last day, so my painting buddy and I decided to trek a bit further. When we started out that morning it was bright, sunny, and beautiful. But once on the trail, it became cloudy and quite dark. Instead of turning back we just set our easels up and pushed paint! I don't think I could'be done it by myself! I usually don't start out with a ground color, but this one needed it. I painted the whole canvas a dark brown, and then proceeded with the painting. I think it helped establish the dark feeling of this part of the trail. Please note: I try to accurately represent the colors of the painting. The photography process may cause small color varations from the original. This is the second of five paintings I did at the Hobbs State Park Plein Air.
