I have painted many horses with random hearts appearing here and there. These are part of my Hearts of Horses series that I have done for years. I sometimes paint Hearts of Dogs. These have been more sporadic but seem to appear more often these days. On this one I included a heart as a tag hanging from his collar. I try to not work too hard on the hearts and let them occur spontaneously which makes life much more interesting. I completely made up this background because I wanted a more abstract painting edge to edge. I've been working on color and value lately and this was an exercise in trying to apply what I have learned. I have painted many horses with random hearts appearing here and there.
