This story is about the gull. A couple of years ago I was at Rockaway Beach in Oregon with my family celebrating Thanksgiving. I went out one morning and took this photo, and when I came back inside and looked at the photo, I noticed the gull for the first time. I hadn't noticed him at all while taking the picture. Animals are so much a part of our lives even when they go unnoticed. It's one of the reasons I feel compelled to put them in so many of my paintings, interacting with and existing alongside us every day. This story is about the gull.
