A red postman (sometimes called piano key) butterfly resting on a green leaf. One of the more colorful insects of the animal kingdom, though not a red admiral as I had thought for the better part of two years while I was planning and working on this painting, this species is native to Central and South America (according to Wikipedia). That explains why I've never been able to attract this beauty to my Florida yard. A red postman (sometimes called piano key) butterfly resting on a green leaf.
