A single red rose, worked in oil pastel on canvas panel, set on a dark blue background. The brilliant red petals are still unfurling, as the flower works towards full bloom. I simply adore roses, and when working in oil pastel I place the emphasis on the color, in this case the simple red and green contrast with the blue to harmonize.
