On Hold
This is little Angel Cookie, forever 42 days old. A young bald eagle that died of exposure during a freezing rain and heavy snow in May, 2019. The artwork is done in "silverpoint," drawing the entire image with a small piece of sterling silver, in combination with a small piece of 14k gold, on a prepared surface. The silver will tarnish and darken some, but will still reflect light (glare of reflective property shown in the alternate photo, taken in bright sunlight). The pale layer of gold can be seen in both the non-reflected and reflected images. The gold will never tarnish. "Silverpoint," or "metalpoint," was used during the Renaissance. It's said to be the most difficult method of drawing (but in some ways I'm more comfortable with it; this is my 2nd work in silverpoint). This is little Angel Cookie, forever 42 days old.
