"Freedom" This great eagle dad is named Freedom, and here he's checking up on his newborn eaglets, Chaak (Tlingit for "eagle"), and Anaaski ("Alaska"). I've been watching eagles grow up since spring, and each is different and has a notable personality. Not shown here is their mama, Liberty. Chaak fledged on 9/10 at 95 days old, and Anaaski on 9/15. They are now on their individual life journeys. This painting is from a photograph taken by Dee Kelly and used with permission.
