This rustic cabin is nearly 100 years old and was built by Peter Norbeck, an early governor of South Dakota, as a vacation home in the Black Hills. Since that time it has been a vacation home for the use of subsequent governors of South Dakota. It was named Valhalla after the Norse word for heaven. I did this painting in thick oil paint on a 10x8 masonite board. I like using thick oil paint as it gives paintings a luscious texture that can’t be replicated in a print. This could easily be framed by placing it in a standard photo frame with the glass removed. Shipped free with USPS Ground Advantage shipping within one day. Thanks for looking!
