This piece is one of a series I am calling "House of Stone and Shadow". The original inspiration is a stone fountain located at House on the Rock. Details as to precise location are a bit sketchy, but you can be sure I am sorry for not taking way more photographs than I did. In most cases the subjects of my paintings have a way of disappearing, so I cannot be sure the fountain remains extant. Nevertheless a piece of it will live on! This painting's title has a bit of double meaning, since there is a common saying among artists that "Value does all the work, but color gets all the credit." So it is here, where the shadow notes lay beneath the 'stars' of the painting. Painted on a gesso masonite panel. This piece is one of a series I am calling "House of Stone and Shadow".
