A piece that I worked on for over a decade, it has undergone a few transformations but the overall mood and colors stayed the same.Initially inspired by a photo I took at Hotel Kabuki in San Francisco, it became more about the light and the deep feeling of peace I wanted to convey in the painting. I went through many changes in life throughout the years that I worked on this piece. When it came time to give it a name, I immediately thought of the hymn "It is Well," (also known as "When Peace Like a River")--particularly the first verse:"When Peace, like a river, attendeth my way,When sorrows like sea billows rollWhatever my lot, thou hast taught me to sayIt is well, it is well, with my soul
