This is a celebration of the beautiful strong light in London these last few months. For some reason these chunky buildings, with the way they catch the light, and their rich colours, really appealed to me, even the ones with scaffolding and wrapping. I guess it's, again, the V shape composition which seems to appear in many of my paintings. This was great fun to paint. I spent the first 80% of the time with just manganese blue, French ultramarine, burnt umber and titanium white over a dirty pink ground.
