This summer I visited the Saskatchewan farm site where I grew up. While the main residence is still lived in and beautifully maintained, some of the outbuildings are a challenge, like this old pump house. When I was little, a wind mill mounted on the top of the house pumped the hard, mineral-rich water, which provided drink for our farm animals and a source of cold water for Mom to blanch her peas while preparing them for freezing. I’m so glad my nephew, who lives on site, left this old building standing … for now. It’s full of character and good memories!
