Media: Watercolor on Strathmore 400 Series Cold Press 140 lb paper

My sister-in-law Alice needed me to come stay with her for a week due to a medical issue; so I took along an art kit to enjoy in between doctor and other trips. Here's what I put together: Alice loves to find little vases at thrift stores and create floral arrangements with fake flowers. She is very clever and artistic with them and I knew I would be painting with her florals as inspiration. I chose this one because I like blue and yellow together: that's a feel-good combination for me. The flowers had light yellow centers so I chose yellow paper for the background. The overall shape of the flowers and pitcher is an oval. With scrapbook paper as a background it was easy to compose in the sketchbook, lightly draw on the watercolor paper and go for it with the watercolors. A sliding door provided the lighting next to the dining table on which I created the paintings.
