I used to live in a rural area and I took many walks on this road. The reference photos for this painting were taken in the middle of the summer when it’s hot and humid. When I look at this painting I can almost smell the hay and the horse manure!
I like the little farmhouse at the top right of the painting and the road leads the viewers eye right to it. I normally eliminate telephone wires and power lines but I think that they add something to the composition. They also keep your eye from exiting from the right side of the painting.
