I painted this as part of the community paintout that's part of the Finger Lakes Plain Air Festival. We had 2 hours to paint a picture on the grounds of the Sonnenberg Gardens, located in Canandaigua, NY. I chose to paint the mansion from a distance. I positioned myself so that I could use the wall as part of the composition. It helps create a sense of depth the way that it leads into the picture. Aside from having people watch me paint, there was also a turtle that was hanging out on the steps behind me. At one point, a chipmunk was also looking on and offering me encouragement squeeking and darting around the area : ) I painted this as part of the community paintout that's part of the Finger Lakes Plain Air Festival.
