Vivid colors, fresh eggplant... all of the makings for a good meal and still life painting! I enjoyed painting over the red background, the little bits of red that show through in the finished painting increases the vibrancy of the colors. The colors are exaggerated for effect, eggplant isn't that purple in real life. Most of the color shows up in the highlight reflections.
