I noticed these row boats as I was taking a walk around Hoyt Lake and I thought that they would make a nice painting. The majority of the painting was completed with a 1" flat brush and it helped me to quickly block in the major shapes. That doesn't sound like a large brush but it's 1/5 the height of the painting!
The silvery appearance of the lake and the subtle warm glow of the sky are my favorite parts. If you're familiar with Buffalo you might think that's the Albright Knox in the background but it's actually the Buffalo History Museum. If you were standing in this location, the Albright Knox would be to your left.
