Tramp Steamer - circa 1920 Ship ‘SS Venture’. An ink pen and watercolor wash painting by Pennsylvania artist David Young The ‘Venture’ was the rusty old tramp steamer that transported King Kong to New York in the movie of the same name. It was actually a different ship that the movie company converted to the ‘Venture’ specifically for its major role in that movie. Not sure, but I think it may have been used in other movies, always playing the role of a rusty old tramp streamer from that time period. The painting is on illustration board, 7” x 14” and matted to a size of 11” x 18”. Both painting and mat are new and in excellent condition. Full price of the matted painting is $160.00 and includes free insured shipping to any destination within the Continental US.
