Inspiration for this painting was the words to an old folk song by Harry Belafonte, that got stuck in my head: "Lemon tree very pretty and the lemon flower is sweet, but the fruit of the poor lemon is impossible to eat." I had hoped that by painting this, I could exorcise the little demon. Not Harry, loved his songs. We'll see.
