Smith Rock in Central Oregon is a climbing destination for people from all over the world. Although I don't climb, I love hiking and the scenery here is worth the trek. This is one of a three plein air painting I did this summer of this beautiful place. (If you aren't familiar with 'plein air' painting, it is a quick study done on location, where the artist tries to get impressions, color, light and atmosphere down as quickly as possible, as they can change rapidly.)
