Where I live there are very tall fir and pine trees, but scattered among them are giant old oaks and maples. These old twin oaks have grown in a neighbors side yard and been the playground for several generations of children, who have climbed into their branches and swung from a tire swing. I began this painting as a plein air because I love the ancient oak trees and the lovely lights and shadows, but felt the tire swing needed a child so I added him in my studio.
