We moved a year ago, just after the lilacs beside our house bloomed. There were so many blossoms that the boughs bend over under their weight, especially after the rain. Our new home doesn't have lilacs in the yard, but a new friend dropped by the other day with a big bouquet of lilacs. They smell divine, and were so beautiful that I needed to paint them.
