Walking a week or two ago along the So. Platte this big old cottonwood caught my eye. At the time there was a bank of snow and I really liked the shadows of another tree streaming across that snow. I went back a couple of days later with my paints, same time of day. Just a small bit of the snow was left. I was still able to see enough of the color of the shadow on the snow that was left and design the painting to include more snow than was present. I pulled the river over closer to tree then the actual scene as I think it made for a better composition. I really love the snow bank leading the viewer up to that spectacular tree. Colors are off a bit in the photo. @sheilamarieart Walking a week or two ago along the So. Platte this big old cottonwood caught my eye.
